Thursday, August 2nd, 2007Portland was fun. The training was good – especially the chance to meet some new people, but the vacation out there was the highlight. I met up with Caleigh and her parents Friday morning, and we hung out in Portland for a couple of days before heading up to Washington state to see her Grandparents. Portland is a cool place in the summer time. Washington was pretty sweet too. We drove through the Columbia River Gorge and stopped off at a few sites including Multnomah Falls and Hood River. The drive did get a bit long, but it was the the most continuously amazing scenery I’ve ever experienced on a road trip. We made it back early Tuesday morning in time to unpack, do laundry and get to work. Tonight it’s time to get packed up again for a weekend trip to Charleston for a wedding. Good times. Half Marathon

I ran the Cannonball Run Half marathon yesterday in Greensboro and was pretty happy with how it turned out. This morning is a little different story – thank goodness for Advil. I finished middle of the pack at 1:55:34. The attached picture is from the start when I was trying to get off the grass and onto the road. They haven’t posted the finish pics yet, but I’m sure mine is equally flattering

I don’t normally post pictures of race stars with models, but I was pretty surprised to see this one. The model on the left is named Lauren and works at the desk next to me in the Office of Research. Apparently, she’s been doing some moonlighting with NASCAR. Way to Go Lauren!

Ethan Christopher Mann arrived on Christmas Eve at 1:32pm Swedish time. He is 6 7/8 lbs with long fingers and a full head of brown hair. (What else would you expect from a Mann Boy?) The proud parents and grandparents are ecstatic. Mom, Dad, Dave and Cathy all got a chance to hold him a few hours after he was born. Swedes celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, so the little one is a julbarn (Christmas child) complete with a little santa hat. I can’t wait to see pictures. I’ll pass them along when they arrive.
Back from the Cruise
Tuesday, August 9th, 2005I’m back from my cruise to the Bahamas. We had great weather and a LOT of food. I’m working on getting pictures up, but in the meantime, check out a video from the aquarium at the Atlantis hotel. The audio on it is great. Who knew that sting rays ate lobster?
